Connect any device to ALSO IoT Platform

Apart from the off-the-shelf devices we provide, you can add a custom device of yours
Go to the +NEW DEVICE button and select between the NB-IoT, LoRa, Arduino, Raspberry Pi or a completely custom device (or development board)

a. You can also add your smartphone as a device, in case you don’t have any at hand

After you added a device, you have to add the assets, which are the digital representation of the sensor data
To add an asset, click on +NEW ASSET and assign:

a. Display name (The title whichever you want to assign for an asset)
b. Asset Name (case sensitive for payload conversion)
c. Kind (choose between sensor, actuator and virtual types)
d. Profile type depends on the type of the data, e.g. integer or boolean)

Note: If you add a custom device, you have to add all the assets and payload conversion setup manually!

Having the device and related assets within, the payload conversion is the next mandatory step, to decode the data properly
You can use various payload conversion tools within our platform:

a. JSON - the most known structure on web to parse the payload
b. CBOR - working with LPWAN is easier with this lightweight binary format
c. ABCL - a JSON-based used for encoding and decoding of AllThingsTalk asset data to and from binary payloads
d. JavaScript - enables you to use the complete code from manufacturer

Once you set up the payload conversion method correctly, the data coming from your sensor device will be parsed and diplayed within Assets
