ALSO IoT Platform (Ground)
- What is a Ground?
- Grounds are distinct areas of the ALSO IoT Platform that groups relevant IoT resources together, allowing for easier access management, delegation and separation of concerns.
- A ground allows people with common interest to build and share their IoT devices, assets and data either internally within a team, externally to a selected audience or publicly with everyone.
-
- How can I sign up to the ALSO IoT Platform?
- You have to contact your reseller and purchase the subscription for the Ground.
- The device activation code is not working:
- Please re-enter the code in all the CAPITAL letters.
- If it still doesn’t work, reach out to your reseller for the support.
- Where can I find a reseller or partner for the Workplace+ solution accelerator?
-
To find a reseller in your country please go to
also.com website.
- Is the account created automatically for me once I bought it?
- After the purchase, you’ll receive the confirmation email with the link to complete your account creation.
- How long is the data available on my Ground account?
- As long as the subscription is active the data will be present in the Platform.
- Where can I see my account details?
- At the upper right corner, click on your account image, then click on Settings. Herein, you can change your password, see the Ground subscription details and authorised clients.
- How many devices can I have in one Ground?
- You can add as many devices as you want in a Ground, but the basic billing plan allows you to add up to 50 devices. Any additional device will be charged extra.
- As a best practice, we suggest that a Ground is used to host devices which are related to each other (e.g. all devices from a single office floor, office building or devices for a specific use case).
- How can I buy more Grounds, if the one I have is not enough?
- You can contact your reseller to sell you more Grounds.
- How can I change my account Password?
- Go to the upper right corner, click on the account image, then on Settings > Account Settings, type in your current password and chose the new one (type and re-type)
- How can I get started using the Ground in the best way?
- Follow the detailed 6 steps of data visualisation in the ALSO IoT Platform. You will find everything you need to get started,
- Also, we have created the Smartphone Demo tutorial where you can quickly explore the power of ALSO IoT Platform only by connecting your smartphone and send the sensor data to the platform. Rest assured that your data are end-to-end secured with us.
- How can I visualise the device’s data?
- Follow the descriptive guidelines plus video tutorial about Pinboard management in ALSO IoT Platform to help you get going with this important step.

- Screw the white (flat) antenna to the plug with the WiFi label
- Screw the black (round) antenna to the plug of the AP2 module
- Insert the provided LAN cable into the E-NET port
- Screw the original power adaptor and plug-in the device into the electrical outlet
- How to know that the gateway is correctly connected?
- Booting the gateway can take up to 5 minutes. It is up and running when the LED “STATUS” on the front of the gateway is blinking
- How to revert the LoRa gateway and set it back to the pre-configured settings
- You need to press the RESET button on the front of Multitech Gateway for more than 5 seconds and less than 30 seconds
- Note that if you hold it more than 30 seconds, you will revert the Multitech Gateway on factory settings and loose all the previously configured user settings!
- The best practice would be to hold the RESET button for about ~10 seconds
- How to reset the LoRa gateway to the factory settings?
- CAUTION: Setting the device back to factory defaults removes ANY user changes previously saved on the device including:
- Custom Applications
- User Defined Defaults
- Node-Red Applications
- All user configuration changes that deviate from factory defaults
- System Reboot -Short press (less than 5 seconds) — the system just reboots
- User Defined Defaults – Long press (5 to 30 seconds) — the device configuration changes to user defined defaults and it reboots. ***CAUTION: The Factory Defaults are used if User Defined Defaults have not been previously set. See Factory Defaults.***
- Factory Defaults — Extra long press (greater than 30 seconds)– the device configuration reverts back to factory defaults.
- CAUTION: Setting the device back to factory defaults removes ANY user changes previously saved on the device including:
- Custom Applications
- User Defined Defaults
- Node-Red Applications
- All user configuration changes that deviate from factory defaults
Workplace+ Devices (Desk, Eye, Environmental, Sound)

Hardware malfunctions
- Why doesn't the device start?
- If the device is not starting even though you have inserted the battery, it could be one of these three things:
- Not the right type of battery. It should be 3.6 V Lithium battery. AA14505, Li-SOCI2.
- No power in the battery.
- Battery inserted the wrong way.
- We are testing radio performance, sensors, current consumption, NFC on all sensors in our final test so faulty devices should not pass the final test. But if you still are having problems, please contact your reseller for the support.
- Device is powered on, but I can’t see the data:
- Check the DEBUG log and if any data were parsed from the LoRa GW
- If nothing is coming in, reach out to the support by
- contacting your reseller if your’e a business customer (end-user)
- raise a ticket through ACMP Support Portal (if you’re a reseller)
- The Device’s PIR (LED) is blinking orange all the time. What to do to fix this?
- First, open the back lid and re-insert the batteries. It’s good to check if battery is not depleted.
- Orange blinking means that a device is trying to connect to the LoRa network. If it's only one device and the others work, there is probably something wrong with the configuration of the that device. If other devices have this problem as well, there is probably something wrong with the configuration of the LoRa gateway.
- For the device settings, read the device’s configuration using the NFC app and check if the keys are the same as on the ALSO IoT Platform.
- For more information about ERS devices, Please check out the ERS manual here.
- The LoRaWAN Gateway STATUS LED blinks intermittently, but no data on the ALSO IoT Ground
- Firstly, perform a simple restart: plug the power cable off for around a minute and put it back into the electrical outlet. Monitor if after around 7 minutes STATUS LED is blinking intermittently again and if data arrived at your Ground.
- If the gateway failed to connect, contact the ALSO support team using ACMP account and a Support Portal.
- The Multitech Gateway can’t connect to the network
- Check if your IT admin approved the IP traffic for the port where the gateway is connected to,
- If gateways still doesn’t connect, set the static IP address in Multitech’s settings:
- use the SSH to connect to the gateway’s IP address assigned by DHCP
- login to gateway using the credentials provided by ALSO support team
- Click on Setup (left sidebar) > Network Interfaces
- Click on the pen icon on the right side assigned to eth0
- Choose LAN as a Direction and “-” as Bridge options and write the needed parameters for the static IP address
- Click Submit and then Save and restart on the left side to confirm these changes and reboot the gateway.
- If your gateway still doesn’t connect, contact the ALSO support through your ACMP account and in the Support portal.
